Recent Art Work…. sketches for gasoline money!

Here is the recent work I have gotten… and I want to share it here in hopes of getting more jobs.  I can’t make the kayaking adventure work otherwise.

If you would like to order a sketch as a Christmas gift, please email me a high resolution photo of the subject and I will give you a quote.  Prices begin at $40 plus $7 shipping and handling (or one or more sketches-one price for shipping).  I prefer to do portraits only, but will consider other subjects.  Charlene.Swankie@gmail.com

Visit with Cuzzin’ Dick–a vandweller (Oct. 3, 2010)

VT-NH 070

Before leaving NY state I stopped off to see Cuzzin’ Dick for a nice visit.  What a great spot he had… an apartment right on the water.  I should have paddled there but was somehow not motivated as I had planned on meeting up with another vandweller in the hills of Vermont and I was eager to get on the road again.  There was suppose to be a lake there where I could kayak.

But getting to know Cuzzin’ Dick was a treat and I know our trails will pass many times in the future.

That’s SwankieWheels over my left shoulder… and Dick’s apartment was on the second floor just beside the passenger side.

Dick tells me about some of the wildlife he has seen on the shore below his balcony.  Really beautiful… for not on a long-term basis.  The building is owned by slumlords… and the winter was too harsh… Dick will be moving on.

Who is Swankie?

In 2006, I was shopping for a wheelchair. By 2007, I had new knees, better health and by 2008 a kayak. In Aug 2013, I kayaked my 49th state, Alaska, at the Holgate Glacier and in May 2014, I kayaked Hawaii, my 50th state, to celebrate my 70th Birthday and the finale to the wonderful adventure of Kayaking America. Next up... Re-kayaking southwestern states.
