Apostle Islands National Lake Shore, north of Bayfield, WI.
July 2011… got way behind in writing my blog… so will post the photos and go back and add text as I find my notes:
I’m headed way out there around that point of land.
Here is that point of land.
A Bald Eagle.
This was suppose to be the place I took a break… but guess what… the bear won and I peed in my wetsuit.
After a three hour paddle, I reached the lighthouse… which was my goal/hope. But guess what… the seas were getting rough.
I had a very quick break on shore and then tried to head back to where I launched.
Far off there in the center is a white speck on the horizon. That is where I have got to go. It took 3 1/2 hrs of very hard continuous paddling to make it… and I honestly don’t know how I did it. I could not even take a short break… or the wind and current would blow me backwards. All total 6 hrs and 45 minutes of paddling… my biggest challenge to day (even still in July 2011).
Just a funny sight on the way back into Bayfield, WI where I hung out for a couple weeks. Both sides of the road, just lined with this stuff.
Realized while I was there that my van plates were expired… and called California to see what renewal would cost me from out of state… and it was over $700.00. So I called “My Dakota Address” and signed up for a box, sent her all my van info and got SD plates within 10 days for $70.00. Their service has been great and I will post their information here soon.
