Hello Friends,
I began this blog over 10 years ago. Somehow last year... I got locked out of it... and with everything that was going on, I just could not find a way to get back in to edit or post new material. Today, Oct 8 2020... I did it... I managed to gain access once again.
I have just gone through and deleted all the SPAM comments. Now, there are some missing photo on some post. Need to fix that.
Will be creating a new HOME page that will be like an outline to the entire blog. And I have a new domain name I will be attaching to it once the updates and corrections are made.
Please forgive me for my absence. Ten plus years... lots can happen. Unexpected things can happen... things you never had on your bucket list. Along with Covid, 2020 has surprised me in ways that are nothing short of astrounding... I became an Actress... and am even being put up for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress to Frances McDormand???? WHAT??? Well, I can tell you that was never on my Bucket List. The day I met her on set, to begin filming with her the next day, was the first day I even knew her name. Having been on the road for a decade... I wasn't seeing a lot of movies and didn't know any of her's. I never saw any of her movies until after we wrapped filming Nomadland.
Since I began this blog I have lost track of some folk, a few have even passed away. But some are still in touch and in fact many of my nomad friends are in the movie with me. Linda May and Bob Wells and I were the main supporting non-actor actors in the movie. It will be out in a limited release on Dec 4, 2020.
Teaser Trailer... new longer trailer will be out soon.

Now that I am back in my blog, I will try to do a better job of keeping you all updated.

P.S. Please note that my new domain name will be Swankie.actor.... well, why not?? LOL

I just saw Nomadland at the Hamptons Film Festival and absolutely loved it! You were tremendous. You deliver a truly sincere and heartbreaking performance. I really hope you win that Oscar. It is well deserved!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're back :) The new domain name is perfect!
ReplyDeleteJust watched NOMADLAND, which is easily the best film of the year if not the decade. One of the most beautifully empathetic films of all time and I understand why you would be put up for an Oscar. Your speech about life is so fantastic. So compelling and heartfelt. This film is a masterpiece. Congrats.
ReplyDeleteSaw the movie the other night. You were sensational. My fingers are crossed and I hope you win the Oscar.
ReplyDeleteSwankie, I watched Nomadland last night and I just couldn't stop thinking about you. Your scenes were the Most impactful for me. I wish to see more of you on screens. Sending lots of love.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your part in the film. You were great! I miss being on the road and hope to be out there again soon. Good luck and stay well.
ReplyDeleteWe just watched Nomadland and really enjoyed it. We are about to retire soon (God willing) and would love to live on the road, making stops to work/help others on the road. You could start a blog about giving people information on how to survive on the road, where to work to gain shelter, etc. It is all very intriguing.
ReplyDeleteGreat acting, Swankie. Loved the movie.
ReplyDeleteI’m so glad you have your Blog working again. You were great in the movie!
ReplyDeleteI just watched the film and loved it. And I am glad to see you ARE alive and well, and that was just part of the film’s story line. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your story. We just watched the film yesterday, which lead me to this blog. As 50 somethings looking at life after retirement, you are an inspiration to us. Bless you and safe travels.

First Comment!!!! Hi Swankie. Your scene in the movie was amazing. I didn't know much about the movie when I was watching it. When your scene came up talking about kayaking and swallows, I was so amazed by the scene. Not about what you said but that look in your eyes. I wouldn't call it acting. It was beyond acting. It was real and it transported me to... not to the place where you were kayaking, but to the place in your mind and heart as you were reliving it. It was my favorite scene in the movie.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how long I've been following your blog but I've always loved it. Even better to see the movie now. Re-watched it again last night. Today I'm reading an article about your geneaology interest. Very cool, continue to stay safe and healthy.
ReplyDeleteJust saw your performance in Nomadland and you brought me to tears. Amazing work! Best wishes to you.
ReplyDeleteI loved the movie so much that I got the book and watched it again. The book really gives a better insight. My biggest takeaway is that the movie glossed over the trials of the back-breaking work that some of the Nomads endure. Glad to know you. I realize this may be my life someday and I have a friend who has been hoseless for a little over a year in her Honda and is doing great.
ReplyDeleteI loved watching you in Nomadland. You brought tears to my eyes and I fell in love with you, your story and your journey. I hope to read more from you!!!

ReplyDeleteJust saw your movie last night. Loved it. You were great in it. Stay strong and act more. I want to see more beautiful stuff from being out on the road. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteSwankie, I just saw Nomadland and I thought you were wonderful. I used to travel before I was married throughout US and Canada and I loved your description of the swallows flying above and below you while you were in your kayak.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are still breathing and living you full life on the road. If not, I am sure you are showing the angels how to identify cloud formations!
Guess I better give you all an update about Nomadland... I was on the Red Carpet... holey moley. We got Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actress. Never could I ever have imagined all that.
ReplyDeleteJust finished the book! Haven’t watched the movie, yet. Hoping you are well!
ReplyDeleteIs it time to co-post here?
ReplyDeleteBoy, have I gotten bogged down. I can't seem to get around to all I mentioned above. Sorry.
